West Middle School

BCER Engineering provided engineering services for a feasibility study and subsequent design for the renovation and addition to Aurora Public School's West Middle School and Historic William Smith Building. Based on the study, Aurora Public Schools opted to renovate a portion of the existing school and build a 45,000 square foot addition to connect the two existing buildings. The addition included classrooms, administration offices, cafeteria/kitchen, media center, and a new entrance. The renovation included modernization of all the existing spaces. The HVAC system design consists of a new central hot water boiler system, chilled water system with an air-cooled chiller, and air-handling units utilizing variable air volume distribution.
